Okay it is as if the rumors don’t exist. They do. Lots of them. This place loves to find something anything to tear people down. The rumors range from silly to serious.  At one point word was that I am a federal agent.  Other times, I must be stealing, or I would not have nice things.

Because the center seems to have money, I get lots of stories about where it comes from. And how do I afford a new car. Well, a car that is new to me. Too many people I work with and around have not understood that hard work can pay off. That if you work hard and budget you too can purchase a car.

Now we do not live lavishly. Actually I think we live modestly.  No big screen TV. No real toys. An old old mobile home that needs work is it. We don’t travel much other than hospitals.  I cook almost all our meals. You get it basic life.

Yet, new rumors will start. We finally sold our home in St Louis. Within the last couple of months my truck blew up the engine and the car has been out if service more than drivable.  And living here a quality car is a necessity.  Particularly with what we do. I need to be able to get around. 

So yes, we have a newer truck. It is nice but it is not top of the line. I bought a Jeep Gladiator. It is a combo Jeep and pick up truck. It has a great 4-wheel drive, and yet I can still haul stuff for the shelter. It is 4 years old. I love it. And I will not apologize for buying something I like. But, the rumors will once again grow.

We earned this. I worked hard, and we were smart with our money. It is a tool that I enjoy driving. I got not because I am special but because we managed the money we earned and invested in a house.
