We go through a lot of coffee on a normal day at the center. “Do you have any coffee?” is one of the questions that I am most often asked when I arrive at the center. We make pot after pot throughout the day.
We normally offer coffee out the front door from 9-10:30 each morning. During cold weather like today we will offer coffee throughout the day. Since the first of the year, we have opened the center as a day shelter for the homeless and the under housed. This has upped our coffee usage. In addition to the warmth it provides, it also replaces alcohol for many of them. Even if they drink alcohol, it reduces the amount they can drink.
I visited a church in Rosholt, SD in December, they offered me a commercial coffee maker. They even loaded it into my truck, the system, and many cases of coffee. We are going through that coffee on a regular basis.
Coffee is an easy way to show people that they are loved. God loves you and so do I.
