Jackie and I took a week off and left the reservation.  I jokingly told people that I was running away until they were nice to me.

The break was long overdue.  I tend to work every day while I am on the reservation.  There is always something that needs to be done. I am still engaged with the center and have made multiple decisions from the road. Even providing lunch twice this week via Pizza Hut.

But it has been a change of pace and food options! Chick Fil A, Portillos, Bar Louie, White Castle, well, you get the idea.

We have been in St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Chicago.  Our kids and some good friends in STL to start off the trip. Then a couple of days with Jackie’s family especially her mom, and then Chicago for my sister’s. My brother had a previous commitment.  (Chris, we see you more often!)

It has been fun.

And we had the chance to see the eclipse in total. Plus we were with friends and Nick joined us for the day. Sam joined us for dinner and was there when we visited our good friends.

Being on the reservation can disconnect us sometimes. We do not get to attend all the family events. So when we get the chance, we take it.
