There is something peaceful about moving water. I can sit beside moving water for hours.
There is wonder in the stars. Looking up into a moonledd night and seeing all the stars makes me wonder. I wonder if we are alone in the universe.
There is a sense of awe when I am in the mountains. The sheer size of rocks and mountains rising above me leaves me in awe.
Tonight, I am in the mountains of Colorado. I am staying at a cabin in Estes Park. The Big Thompson River flows past me, almost roaring as it cascades over rocks. It is loud enough to drown out all the other noise. It is almost impossible to describe how much it means to me to sit here in the dark, listening to the river.
It is peaceful.
It brings a sense of calm to me.
I needed this. I pour myself out every day. I am helping others so much that I tend to forget to take care of myself.
This is a happy place for me. It is a thin place where I can feel closer to God. Being in God’s creation in its wild state brings me awe, wonder, peace, and a sense of calm. I need more of this.
Where is your thin place? Where do you go to feel close to God?
Moving water is a thin place for me. A starry night is a thin place for me. Mountains are big but act as a thin place for me. Tonight, I feel God’s presence.

God loves you. So do I.
